Sterbai gravid?

Post by Jdmcfast »

I'm am attempting to breed some sterbai cories for the first time. To me they always look fat lol. They have been very active lately after doing some cold water changes. I know some cories belies turn like a magenta color before they spawn is this true of sterbai?
Thanks for any info regarding any info specifically related to sterbai.

I've never seen my sterbai develop any color other than the standard, white belly and striated spots. They spawn constantly, and I stopped pulling eggs several months ago. I just get by on what few manage to survive in the tank with the adults.

Likewise, I've never seen them look "fat". Granted, they're very bulky for a cory, but there's never been any of the normally associated bulges I see in ripe females of other species.

So basically there is no obvious signs to look for other than the eggs?

I think the best indicator for my Sterbai is when they start activly cleaning areas to put their eggs on.

Yes. Lots of chasing and aggressive/show-off dashes to the surface.
