L600 F1 P. leopardus For Sale

Post by PseudaSmart »

For Sale are 2” to 2.5” juveniles. Price is $55.00 each (Min 4)plus shipping. Please PM if you are interested. Here is a photo of a typical one for sale.
L600_regular.JPG
Growing these guys to over 2” has been challenging and now you can benefit. They are 8 months old and yes a bit fat. From this size forward they are an easy keep. Fish from our first spawn (18 months ago) are now over 6”. Both parents have solid orange tails and top of the dorsal fin is a solid band of orange. Male has orange on all fin tips (7 pointer).

There are several threads in the forum detailing the spawning and growing the fry. Here is a You Tube link showing a video of the actual fish for sale.

Thanks for looking.

Very tempting. How are they different from L114 in terms of care? I would presume the same.

Any chance you'll be bringing these to the catfish convention (www.catfishcon.com/) next month?

Thank you for the feedback. I am considering the convention but having never attended one. The thought of holding fish that like space for several days seems a bit challanging. The care and feeding for all pseudacanthicus I have had is about the same. The only difference I have noticed is that some prefer a different temperature.

So doo L600 prefer warmer or cooler temps than L114?
As for the convention, lots of people will rent rooms, bring or buy large plastic tubs/bins with a pump and airstone and keep their fish there (I think you can also rent tanks); and just change the water every day. I can put you in touch with a convention organizer if you're interested.

Highly recommend going especially if you have fish to sell. The transport isnt too rough, depending on water quality they usually adjust pretty well to the water and if you ask the people at the convention they should be able to sell you what the water parameters are and may even have it on their website. You could start conditioning them to closer what the convention would be. An air pump large enough to handle and you get free water so you can do water changes to make sure waste doesnt build up. I take an extra bin just for water dechlorinate and keep fresh especially if you are putting stuff in the auction. The larger conventions are just fantastic to see all the things that people keep and talk to the experts. Good Luck.
Awsome Fish!!!

Thanks for the encouragement. There is still some time before the convention. Receive a few preorders would greatly improve my chances of attending.

Water and temperature observations
600's do best with temperatures between 82-84F. I change temps with the seasons
160's seem to like 80-82F
65's seem to like 80-82F (I only have one)
All like soft water but 600's seem less tolerant of harder water. They lose their color and are less active.
I realize that my temperature ranges are lower than those stated in the cat-elog but the growth rate really slows down in cooler water. I have heard that higher temps promote faster growth but the same people tell me that their fish also mysteriously die.

Thanks again,
Jim

Very tempting. I love how these have more orange in their fins than L114. Let me know if you are coming to the Catfish Convention- I may get one or two (don't have space for 4, min order).
If you were to come to the Convention, do you have any other fish you would sell? I can post it on the Potomac Valley Aquarium Society forum, one of the hosts of the convention.

Jim,
Let me also suggest that you attend the Catfish Cinvention in VA, this October, with quality cats like your L600, you should be able to pay for most of your trip and convention. I would buy one of your cats if you came! There will be close to 400 catfish lovers at the convention. With Heiko as the featured speaker, and a list of other catfish greats speaking, it will be an event that no catfish lover should miss!
Hope to see you there, with a L600 for me!!!
Thanks,
Daniel

Blow your budget. These guys are the real deal.

I have a group of 10 of Jim's L600 juvies. They came to me in great shape and FAT. Acclimated extremely well and are great eaters. Looking forward to watching these guys grow and develop.

I know it is so tempting. But my wife is only understanding about my hobby so far. Dropping 4 bills on fish would have me booted out the door! :((

But there are some local auctions and swaps coming up in the next month and I have lots to sell so maybe I will make enough to buy some if there are any left.

Sorry nothing is available currently. If things go well I have a group that should be ready around August. I also might be thinning out my future breeding stock in the summer. They are 4-6"

There is no Plecostomus with that number. The "L600"/"Lda07" belongs so Pseudacanthicus leopardus.

Any chance you are going to the MFK ECC convention in August? I would be interested in some of the L600 if you had small ones then. Thanks
