These were listed as Claros, can anyone ID?

Post by coder14 »

An aquabid seller gave me permission to show these photos around, I'm pretty curious as to what they are. I think claros would have a linear pattern on the head, and probably be lighter in color. What do the experts have to say?

Exact same pics. Funny.

When I set my mind on Claros I've read just about everything there is on the WWW on this species. I'm by no means an expert but these do NOT look like claro to me. The ID in the other thread is the most likely.

What you need to look for is the mouth shape. That seems tricky but once you've seen real claro it's very obvious: Image

Additionally Claro tends to have a bigger spot on the body and either very fine spots on the nose or a sort of wiggly pattern.

Don't go by colour alone, there's variations and they can adapt colour based on mood and background.

Hey coder, your pics don't look like the claros that are spawning for me right now.

The adult in the pics look nothing like my Claro. Colour is indeed not a great identifier as mine are more brown & gold than those claro pics from wijnands. The bristles seem to go too 'high' from the head whereas claro have a flatter wider head in relation to the body compare to most other BN. Also the adults appear regularly spotted in the pics whereas claro adults have a more scribbled pattern.
