L200 breeding
Hello!
I finaly succesfully bred the L200 Hemiancistrus.
I got around 35 eggs and lost around 5 i thinkt. So the total spawn was around 40- 45 eggs.
Female is around 16 cm and the male is around 18 cm.
The tank is not fancy at all. Some stones and not a very strong cirkulation at all, but heavy filtration through a large sump.
I will share some photos soon!
Now I hope to breed the L128 next time.
Regards
Cristoffer

Re: L200 breeding
Hi!
Thanks all!
I will try to share some pics!
Male in guarding eggs in the cave before I take them. And of course... my special homemade caves!
The eggs is netted with air ( I use this with all species)
The aquarium is not fancy at all. I'm quite suppriced that they spawned at all. This was the second spawn... the first one the eggs where unfirtelized.
Fry in the net. A good way to keep eggs and fry until the yolksac is absorbed i think! Works very vell witt the specues I breed! But it makes bad photos...

The photo is rotated 90degrees to the left, the net is actually at the top of the tank, with an air stone resting in it.

Re: L200 breeding
The tank is 120*60 cm and I keep two females and two males. I Will chage the group to 1 male and 3 females.
I Will add another photo of the net set up!
It's a good idea I got some months ago.

Re: L200 breeding

Re: L200 breeding
Hello!
Taking the other male out is av very little insection in the tank sens hes in the a cave, in another part of the tank. And just adding a rock there and another female wouldn't interupt them to much. The female that spawned is quite thin now sens she spawned two times in 2 months so they need some time off, or perhaps another gravid female. (Janne, perhaps this was the first egg sac that she layed?)
And for the net set up. I glue some peces og glas with silicone 15 cm form each other, just in order to fix the net. The glas keeps the net fixed and are easy to replace with another net if its become dirty. I just added this to all my tanks but it seemes to work great! It becomes much more easy to handle and not interupting the normal set up in the tankt while being there.
I hope the image makes sense.

Cristoffer,
Very nice job. Way to stick with it. I put my attempt to spawn the 'other' L200s on hold for awhile while attempting to master raising Pseudas. You have inspired my to start again in the fall.
