According to the Cat-eLog there are 4 keepers of . I've had mine for a few years now, and is about 18cm/7" TL. I don't know of any reason to treat them differently from , I've always kept mine with a group of these and other Panaque. Don't confuse the common name 'platinum' with Rio Tocantins fish, it's used for those from the Rio Xingu, fish from the Rio Tocantins are typically called 'orange/brown/wood'.

Thanks Matt... the suppliers description is L27c Platinum Tocantins. I asked for some pics and I will compare to yours.
The gaps of the stripes on yours looks like thicker than xingu or any other royal. Very nice.

You should definitely try to get pictures beforehand to avoid being disappointed with a wrong purchase. If you get some, post them here to see what we think they are.
Check these to see what recent Rio Tocantins look like:
http://aquafin.jp/log/cart.cgi
[click 'plecostomus' link twice, then they start about 13th fish down, use google translate to make sure as there are also Tapajos and Araguaia on that page]
