Need help to confirm Pleco ID
I bought this pleco at a LPS, it was listed as a L201, just like most pet stores, any pleco that is black with spots is listed as a L201 or a Galaxy. This one is obviously not a L201. I have looked through almost every picture & description & have narrowed it down to either a L48 or L368. If it is a different pleco please let me know. It is about 4.5" long right now.

Re: Need help to confirm Pleco ID
At first it looks like Leporacanthicus L007. But no heavy body odontodes, and no big teeth in the top lip. So I tend to agree with Rob Rensen. L142.

Re: Need help to confirm Pleco ID
I have an adult L142 & when you look at the size difference of the mouths, the one pictured above is not an L142, thats why I was leaning towards L48 or L368.

Re: Need help to confirm Pleco ID
It is not L142.
The mouth is to small, L142 have large rows of teeth as shown above.
But still I think it could be a Hypancistrus.... Could it be one of the L136 types?? Maybe the L136c?
Whatever it is, it's beautiful!!

Re: Need help to confirm Pleco ID
Still need help to ID this one. It is NOT L142, the L142 is the fish in the belly/mouth shot down the post.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Need help to confirm Pleco ID
If you really want help to ID it then you need to post a photo of its mouth/teeth. Then we can rule in or our certain genera, then we can have a stab at species or L number
