L095 vs. L152
After hours and hours of searching through google, countless forums, google images etc. I am even more confused about these two.
Has anyone that has or is keeping both note some differences?
-Does the L095 have the "orange cheek" as juveniles?
-Does the spotted body/fins apply to both L152 and L095 or just the L095?
-Is there a possibility that the "orange cheek" is mood dependent or maturity thing?
-About what size/age does the "orange cheek" form?
I've found answers that contradict each other all over the place and hope someone can shed some light on this? Such an amazing L# yet not much information on them.
TIA!

Yes, I have one a little over 4 inch already has a orange cheek.

L152 have spots, but not always visable, I had one where u can see the spots all the time, but the spots are not very dark like on a L95.
-Is there a possibility that the "orange cheek" is mood dependent or maturity thing?
I don't think it is mood dependent, young ones already have a orange cheek so its not a maturity thing.
-About what size/age does the "orange cheek" form?
The smallest that I know is 4 inch. It could be earlier.

Do they really get the orange cheeks at 4 inch?
These were imported as L095, they are about 4-5 inch and don't yet have the orange cheeks

The Pseudorinelepsis cf genibarbis is the one with the orange cheeks L095 (Rio Demini, Rio Branco), there is also a Pseudorinelepsis genibatbis without the orange cheeks (Lago Castro do Rio Purus )
The Pseudorinelepsis Sp is the L152, often sold as the cf genibarbis

Re: L095 vs. L152
This is what I thought as well but I have been contacting everyone and anyone I find online that is or has kept both and was lucky to find a few that started with young L095 and they have informed me that some young L095 show only faint "orange" coloration in the tail/cheeks.
It's understood that those juveniles grew into the coloration that you find in most pictures of L095 but these did in fact have the gray spotted color at the young age/size.
Quite possibly a different collection point from the L095 that is pictured as the majority and the L152?

Re: L095 vs. L152
I have raised some of both, and find it very difficult (if not impossible) to distinguish the two when young. When side by side in a tank, the 152 have a slightly different body shape (that I can't describe adequately). My 95 don't get orange cheeks or tail fins until they are about 8 inches, but earlier in males. The male 95's also tend to have a lighter background body color, which has a hint of bluish white to it....compared to both female 95s and either sex of 152.

Thank you for posting those, if someone has pictures of young L095 prior to maturity that would be great as well!

To my opinion you have the pseudorinelepsis genibarbis but it's not the pseudo cf genibarbis with the orange cheeks. The shape of the body is also different.
This is the (ordinary) pseudorinelepsis genibarbis

Re: L095 vs. L152
So would it still be classified as L095, a not as pretty one or is it L152?
