What Kind of Pleco is this please
I bought this little pleco a year ago as an L201 Hypancistrus sp
but looks like this one I have is accually an L201 Hypancistrus sp
The first one was bought from a local breeder & is now full grown at almost 3". The second is just over 3" long & both look to be females.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Top photograph, to me looks like: -
I ‘Doc I can’t stop singing The Green, Green Grass of Home’
“That sounds like Tom Jones syndrome.
‘Is it common?’
“It’s not unusual.”

Re: What Kind of Pleco is this please
They are not the same kind of pleco, as the body shapes are different, the spots on the first one are much larger than the second one & the first one has much darker black body, as where the second sometimes has light patches like in the pic.
If I can get a pic of the top of them I will post it. The first one isn't a Hypancistrus contradens as mine is too small, but I thought that too before I saw what size they grow too. The breeder I got them from, the breeding adults where same size as mine now at under 3 inches.

I agree with above. First is a H. Contradens and the second is a L201.
The age and size of a catfish depends on how it's been kept and fed. That it is small now, does not by definition say it is not that species.

They look like 2 different Fish to me but, Isnt there a small and large spot Variant of the L-201?
Thanks, Josh
