Think smaller. Smaller even than Mystus mysticetus. Bigger, however, than Tatia strigata.

While our mystery fish does not share the same continent with
Tatia strigata
it does share the same initials...

One of you has guessed the correct family, and both Marc van Arc and crkinney have the right continent in mind. :)

I can be the darkest, and the lightest.
I am a relativley young species for the aquarium hobby.
I am a big grump when it comes to other plecos or just fish in general coming near my cave.
I could be a sign of warning or celebration.

Not even close! It is a pleco that a specialty store would have, even then its not a very consistent import. NONE OF THE COMMMON ONES!
