Airbreathing Catfish Wanted
I am looking for airbreathing catfish for sale or adoption. Any catfish from the family Clariidae would be perfect, especially from either genus Clarias or Heterobranchus. I can pay a good price as well. If you are interested in selling your airbreathing catfish to me, please contact me at:

As a suggestion, you may want to include the state you live in under your location in your profile. It may help with your endeavour.

This is probably not going to be easy. The last I heard, Clarias ranked right up there with Channa in regards to import. Some states even have laws against catch and release fishing for these. It's not illegal to catch them, but it can draw a hefty fine if you let it go even in the same body of water it came from. They're considered highly invasive.

If you lived in Florida, you could probably do pretty well. However, it appears as though you live in Colorado--not much of a haven for Clariidae in the local bodies of water.

Re: Airbreathing Catfish Wanted
Welcome, friend.
The fed ban still exists. Is it not for all the Clariidae? I thought it was but I may be wrong. If I am right, the OP will struggle to find any clariid or any legal clariid in the US that someone wants to sell. I certainly have never ever seen a clariid for sale in any of my LFS visits along the east coast states. I only saw them in Toronto, Canada.
Surely one can easily catch them in FL but keeping one and/or crossing a state border line with one is already a fed offense (impossible to enforce though, of course).

You never know. You can luck out. Move to FL, closer to the Everglades and may find a lake of them in your backyard.

Illegal fish trafficking discussions are not welcomed here (not that you are committing one for sure, just a heads-up; there are 3000 species of catfishes, plenty of "cool" and "hot" legal ones to keep ).
