CSG Spring Lecture

Post by Coryman »

For all those UK fishkeepers that like to bag a bargain, or get a reasonable return for their tank bred fish, the CSG has made changes to their Spring and Summer lecture meetings.
The lectures themselves will be as previous meetings, with Dr. David Price giving a talk on "Aspects of Mexican freshwater fish conservation", at the spring event on May 20th.

Where we have made a dramatic change is, instead of a mini auction we will be having a 'Sales Meet' where vendors, instead of entering lots into an auction and getting a few minutes sales window, they will be able to rent a table for the nominal fee of £15, at which they will have 4 hours to sell their wares, be they fish, plants or other aquatic items.

The other major advantage is, sellers can go onto the CSG forum (or here for that matter) and promote themselves and the items they have for sale.

The event will take place at the Derwent Hall, George Street, Darwen, BB3 0DQ, and tables can be booked through the Auction Manager Dave Barton (01942 248130).

For those coming to the lecture and or to purchase a bargain or two, there will be a £2 entry fee, and for this you will receive 3 free prize draw tickets. All three prizes are well worth the £2 fee, at least one of which will be an external canister filter.

Even Vendors get a chance to will something in the free Vendor draw.

This is a totally new idea for us at the CSG and with your support we are sure this will be a huge success and become a regular part of our calender.

For more information just e-mail or PM me.

Mark,

Not sure what I will be bringing yet, I have several groups of fry but all are a little on the small size. C. parallelus are what I am working on at the moment, but these are a difficult one to raise. I have young C. gracilis, A. lacerdai, C150, CW009 and CW010. I also may have the new breeding book available, but that will be a close call from the printers.

Hi all, i hope that no one minds but ive been helping with the publicity for this event. Ive been posting the flyer that was given to me at Preston and trying to get a bit more interest across the net.

Ill be there on the day with a table and aswel as some lovely wild cories ill have a table full of interesting breeding equipment, foods, bags and other assorted bits and bobs.

I have fish other than catfish to bring but ill definately have the following catfish.
Ancistrus brevifilis - Wild caught juveniles.. Nice fish
C.aeneus - Wild, Columbia import, very nice
C.delphax - Sexed groups
C.metae - Large, chunky wild fish
C.reynoldsi - Wild
C.simulatus - wild groups of LG fish

Looking forward to the lecture and table-top sales tomorrow. I believe that 15 tables have been booked, so should rival any normal auction with the benefit of previewing all the fish on sale with fixed prices. There are some great prizes in the raffle including power and internal filters.

In addition to my list above I'll also be offering a big pair of pinnochio whiptails , ,,cherry shrimp and endlers. Plus a load of surplus fishhouse equipment including blowers, space heater, pumps, filters and airline accessories.

I know there's a couple of other events tomorrow, but if its catfish you're after there's only one place to be!

Cheers,
Mark.

I must try and find an affordable and practical way of getting to one of these CSG meetings, bit tricky being on the south coast and being car-less for almost 6 months!
