Re: Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?
There has never been a Centromochlus strigata; they were described as Tatia strigata from the start (there is thus no synonym).
@ Arjan Kruseman: I replaced "spawned" in your posting by "mated" for I don't think you meant you now have a bunch of strigata eggs.
If you do , I'll change it back an you can say "Ni" to me till 2 weeks after Easter

Re: Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?
Unless you, Alex, I have not seen the Ageneiosus sp blue at Neil's in 2010, but when I compare my sp.green stripe with the picture of sp. blue they look very much alike.
If they are the same species, it's just too bad one exporter calls it "blue" whereas another calls it "green".....
They're doing fine btw. The tank itself is very (too) quiet atm -)

After releasing the 3 I haven't seen them again, what probably is a good thing.

I think this is enough proof that both Neil's specimens and mine are the same:
According to Walsh, this is the "real" Ageneiosus atronasus

that's good to know,
that it's not going to be a marmoratus sized baby whale monster.....
in my minds eye Neil's and yours looked quite different, perhaps it was the lack of color in the bag that threw me off

Don't forget it has been nearly 2 years ago since you saw Neil's specimens! No-one is blaming you for that.
This species has a (nasty) habit of tipping over easily, which would make it absolutely unfit for Arjan Kruseman. And to be honest, even I would like them to stop doing this.
I added some Phenacogrammus today and as usual they looked somewhat bigger in the shop. All 10 equal about half a Triportheus and I certainly hope I won't be feeding rather expensively tonight......

Re: Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?
They coloured up nicely, Marc.
So the ones in your smaller tank are in fact cf atronasus and not the real ones. These look quite different indeed.
I just scooped out one dead Denticetopsis I bought saturday. The poor little fellow was probably too stressed out after being pulled out of his little piece of wood by the shopemployee. I feel bad.
The 3 Tatia strigata on the other hand are doing well. I bought a second shrimphotel this afternoon( 6 clay tubes glued on top of each other).
All my small Auchenipterids love to hide in 'm.
I'll try to make some pictures coming weekend.

Have a look.... The black patches on the chin gave them their name (atronasus = black nose). But, to make things complicated, cf atronasus has that to an even further extent.Marc van Arc wrote:This species has a (nasty) habit of tipping over easily, which would make it absolutely unfit for Arjan Kruseman. That's really too bad wrt the Denticetopsis. Let's hope the ones in the large tank are still doing fine. Your Tatia/Centromochlus will certainly enjoy their "appartments"; I'm sure of that. You must feel like a landlord

Marc, gratz with the Ageneiosus sp 3 "green stripe".
Very weird behaviour from that Ageneiosus atronasus om the picture above.
Does this happen often on Ageneiosus Marc ?
I've seen this weird behaviour with , they almost look if the're dead, a few moments later they will swim again.
Marc, are the Ageneiosus atronasus and the Ageneiosus cf. atronasus in the same tank ?

Actually, after some reading and comparing I've become quite convinced the Ageneiosus sp.blue/sp green stripe = Ageneiosus atronasus
AND
Ageneiosus cf. atronasus = Ageneiosus brevis.

Hi,
I don´t know much about Marcs fish, but mine do this all the time. That´s why they really made me getting crazy in the beginning. You look into the tank, and OH MY GOD: three of five seem dead. But actually, they are just "hanging around".Phyllonemus wrote: Very weird behaviour from that Ageneiosus atronasus om the picture above.

What do you think of this, Steve? When looking at the C-log picture of A. brevis, I see a pale, male specimen of A. cf. atronasus.Marc van Arc wrote:Actually, after some reading and comparing I've become quite convinced the Ageneiosus sp.blue/sp green stripe = Ageneiosus atronasus

Wrt agressive Tatia: my intermedia were quite agressive amongst each other, but they never attacked other woodcats afaicr. So you have a scoop, although I can imagine you're not too happy about it(?).

Re: Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?
Some do, but not all. My A. sp 3 never do this and I can't recall the A. magoi doing this in the past.Phyllonemus wrote:Very weird behaviour from that Ageneiosus atronasus on the picture above.

Are the Ageneiosus atronasus and the Ageneiosus cf. atronasus in the same tank ?
However, Tetranematichthys did it constantly and the tiny ones up to now known as cf. atronasus do it as well.
Both species are in the same tank, although I have 3 cf. specimens in the small tank. I bought them from Arjan Kruseman a few weeks ago and concluded they were yet too small for the large tank.
I will now go to the Suggestions forum to propose a switch/new entry, so we can all start using the proper names.

I'll have a look and comment on the other thread but I'm not gemmed up on Ageneiosus.
Yeah, not happy at all (

Steve I find that when you feed the fish that they do not try to eat each other .
I know funds are tight in Yorkshire but they should stretch to a few eathworms (Niiiight Crawllllerrs as they say in America)
Sorry now you can continue about the Ageniosus.

Nice cats Neil.
BTW the male Tatia has settled down a bit with the aggression, and he's just eaten 5 earthworms out of my fingers.

Nice pictures - and fishes - indeed -).
The last picture looks like Entomocorus radiosus, but if so they have to be small. Are they?
The first picture is the same species as the one that is currently known as Ageneiosus cf atronasus and not - sorry to say - to my pictured specimen which I believe you were refering to?

Ah, that makes sense. The large eyes, the caudal patterning and the lack of knowledge about its size misguided me.
