L200 breeding
I finaly bred the L200, Hemiancistrus a few days ago.
It seems that th eggs are unfertilized.
I actually never experienced this before. Could the male be sterile? Could this be the result of a "first time fail"?
Other info:
They layed around 40 eggs and the male where quite intense and rough against the female.
pH 6,4
conductivity 160 uS/cm
Temperature aroun 28 degrees
Two caves some flat stones and some boogwood, nothing extra ordinary and around 1200 l/h circulation... not very strong circulation but very strog oxygenation.
Inhabits: 2 males and 2 females and one pair of L262.

Re: L200 breeding
Sorry to hear that the eggs will not develop. Hopefully they will figure it out the next time.

Re: L200 breeding
Hi
I will try to uploand a youtube video, cause I was filming the spawning!
But the eggs wouldn't develop so I hope that they will do a better job newt time.
The aquarium is 100*52*40 cm (not big at all, but enough for hiding places and for the male to have a territory.
I will try to share the film and some photos of the parents.
I hope for better news next time!

Re: L200 breeding
Cristoffer, was it just the pair in the tank, or do you have a group of them together? The reason I ask is that I have a pair of L128 (out of a group of 7 in varying sizes) as well as a pair of L91 (out of a group of 6 of various sizes) that look ready to go. I was thinking of putting just these 2 pairs in a 122x41Wx50H (about 280L) by themselves. If you had just 1 pair in the tank w/o other fish of the same sp. I should be able to give it a go w these 2 pairs.
Thanks for sharing your experiences; they're an inspiration to others who are trying to reproduce these awesome fish!

Re: L200 breeding
Hello!
I probably have 2 pairs in the tank! I think so! I find it hard to tell the sex!
I also have a pair L262, I sturisoma sp and a female L340 in there...
Male
Female (i think)
Egg clutch
I lost the last eggs 4 days after chatching and I couldn't see anything in the eggs. I hope they will do better next time!
Sorry for the blurry images!
