L114 injured, need help
L114 injured, need help
5-6 days ago, i add 2 female L114 to the pond, today i see there's something weird on their skin, their skin becoming white in some place, and when i touch its slimy...
here's the pics..
is that because fight? or because the cave???
i already give them salt, meth blue, and changed water... what else?
in their pond, there is so many driftwood, so i think there's enough place to hide if a fish attack them..
any suggestion guys?
thanks before...

Re: L114 injured, need help
I have had similar injuries on my Leporacanthicus from (as far as I can tell) territorial/hierarchy fights. Giving them plenty of clean water and a bit of salt in the water (and isolation from the other fish) made it heal properly.

Re: L114 injured, need help
Columnaris bacteria can start infected the back. It is treated with a hospital tank, clean water and antibiotic. Try fishypharmacy.com for better diagnosis and treatment advice since I only found this on one of my Otos and it got worse fast and she expired. Good luck!

Can you put the fish in its own quarantine tank? You can add more aeration, keep the tank dark, put in a cave and maybe treat with medication and/or salt. Hopefully in a few weeks it will be healthy to return to the pool.

Re: L114 injured, need help
I don't really see a big problem with this bite marks. In my tank i keep 3 male and 5 females (i think so ) and there is always someone that look like this. I have never done anything with it and they seem to heal very fast from it. Its just combat/breeding behavior.
