Two headed L333 fry

I finally got my first decent spawn from my L333 and one is a conjoined twin. I have let nature take it's course and I am a little surprised that he/she is still going strong. There are two heads and one tail and both mouths are feeding. There is no bloat or anything else odd (apart from the obvious). Just wondering if anyone has experience with fish like this?

Oh come on - you can't just say that without providing a pic for us . It's pretty unusual in fish AFAIK although i have seen it in crocodiles at the Mamba Crocodile Village in Kenya.

Really looking forward to seeing him/her/them! Maybe you might want to christen it Zaphod?

We had a preserved two-headed lamb in the Zoology department at Bangor University. I don't think it's that uncommon generally.

Did you used malachite green on that fish? Malachite green is mutagenic.

I dont use any chemicals, so it is just a random mutation.

I will try my best to get a pic this afternoon, at the moment the little guy is just on 1cm and I dont want to shift him/her about too much as I am curious as to how development will progress.

Well I said I would let nature take it's course and it seems to have happened. I got home tonight and there is no sign of my little freak in the fry saver, I pulled out everything and there is no trace. I seen the little guy this morning at 0500 before I headed to work. I can't believe his/her brothers and sisters would polish off an entire mini corpse in a day. I am hoping that an escape has been made into the main tank. All I have is a crappy pic from when it was a wriggler on my phone. Now I have to work out how to get a pic off my phone and onto my iPad.

It happens rarely but does happen. I've seen perfectly healthy 2 headed snakes and turtles. I'm surprised you don't hear about fish more often:

This is a bit unfair - fish can be hard to photograph & not everyone has a camera available.

I believe this fish existed. They are not as strong as other fish so I could see it dying in a day or 2. Sorry for your loss.

Perhaps some of the international people are unaware, but "Pics or it didn't happen!" is a colloquialism to request pictures of special or unlikely things, independent of whether or not the person actually believes it happened or not. The pic I have shows one of the wrigglers looking well, like a wriggler, then to the right is the conjoined one, "Zaphod". I am trying a few ways to get the pic on here.

The other option for posting pictures is to upload them. When writing a post, under the big white "write text box", there is a "upload attachment". Click that and use the "Browse" button to select a picture from your computer. Then clikck "Add the file".

This has occurred once before in a Hypancistrus that i am aware of in Australia, the fry was killed for obvious reason. It was on Plecofanatics so most of that info will be gone although i do believe i saved the photo.
