L046 Zebra Biotope in Toronto

Post by lukan »

It would be appropriate for me to post these pictures here as this article in here inspired me to try and create a Rio Xingu Biotope:

http://www.planetcatfish.com/shanesworl ... fectionist

In the past 20 years I've kept fish tanks from Reef to saltwater to discus and now my newest challenge plecos. What started out as wanting to keep bushynose plecos with my discus has fuelled my collecting and caring of hypancistrus. I currently keep various L numbers but none has peaked my interest as keeping L-46. I have read, researched and private message various members and veterans for advise from this site and other sites like zebrapleco and canadapleco. Everyone has been so helpful and instrumental for giving me the courage to take on the challenge of keeping zebra plecos. Funny enough that a friend of mine offered me to keep a school of zebra's that i turned down because my heart was so set of discus 2 years ago. Fast forward to now, as luck would have it, I acquired a breeding school of zebra's that the breeder had for the past 6 years and that has produced for him. Life got in the way of the breeder and his beloved hypancistrus were made available to me.

Tank volume is 47 gallons: dimension is 18inchesW x 30inchesL x 20inchesH
Substrate is white river sand, used black slate and river rocks for caves and shelves
