Re: What does your username mean?
Mine is a hang over from my first "proper" motorcycle, Honda VTR1000 "Firestorm" here in Australia. Pretty sure it got superhawk or the like in other markets.

Re: What does your username mean?
It was my first motorbike as well. It was called "SuperHawk" in the US. Everywhere else, it was FireStorm (note camelcase spelling ;) ).Firestorming wrote:Mine is a hang over from my first "proper" motorcycle, Honda VTR1000 "Firestorm" here in Australia. Re: What does your username mean?
I wish I had some nifty story, but alas, it's just my name !
I used to love the stories when I would send people to talk to different hobbyists looking for fish. "ya know, I didn't ask her name, but her nickname was Barbie?" hehe. It makes me laugh every time someone assumes it can't possibly really be my name and if it is, why don't I use a nickname for heavens sake!

Re: What does your username mean?
Bekateen is a contraction of one of my children's nicknames and the book, The Velveteen Rabbit, which was the first book our kids ever had... Needless to say, we read that book a lot.
And my avatar is the symbol of X.A.N.A., a malevolent artificial intelligence which exists in a virtual world and is intent on destroying the real world, from the French cartoon, Code Lyoko. This cartoon was another favorite of my kids. X.A.N.A. does not describe me (I'm neither malevolent nor intelligent), but we do float around here in this virtual world of cyberspace, so that applies to me. And since this is an international forum, I thought a French symbol would be apropos.
Cheers, Eric
EDIT: As of 06 March 2024, the X.A.N.A. avatar symbol is put to rest and is now replaced with my own avatar:

Re: What does your username mean?
I apologize because this is one of those "you had to be there" stories.
One day while fishing for jacks in the Indian River Lagoon in Central Florida with a bunch of my college buddies a large (what we assumed to be mullet) leaped out of the water and splashed down behind the boat startling all of us. No one had actually seen the fish so when someone asked "What was that?" someone said it must have been a "Baby Narwhal". We all thought that that was pretty funny and for the rest of the year anything that happened unseen was blamed on a baby narwhal.
I guess I used the phrase too much and people started calling me Narwhal.
The 72 is my birth year.
Andy

Re: What does your username mean?
My name's derived from Latin for prevailing and Russian for frying or heating. Funny thing is my best friend's last name in Russian is derived from burning, so some people, e.g., at the gym we used to go to, could never learn which last name belongs to who even over 5 years. My signature reflects my taste in fish and how it translates into their home needs. It also refers to a desirable quality of a heart.

The first forum I signed up on already had a Marine. So I added a date and that has been my forum name since.

Re: What does your username mean?
Alleykat is the model name of the first electric guitar I bought at age 18.. It doesn't use my actual name, (Tjerk) which can be a bit of a hassle especially in English (you're named jerk!) and Spanish (your name is tgerek?!) conversation. I also like the 'misspelling' of it. When available I use it pretty much everywhere.

Re: What does your username mean?
big blue frog is from a song performed by Peter, Paul and Mary . I got the nickname from the song from a dear friend who said the song described our relationship. I also like frogs, but that is not part of using this name. BBF

Re: What does your username mean?
Welcome to the Planet! You could mystify it up by presenting it as "Shri-MP-Keeper-222". "Shri" has a plethora of meanings https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sri#Other_languages, so does the abbreviation MP from music file extention to military police, and so on Feel free to never mind me... I might have been paid a visit by a muse of playful silliness.shrimpkeeper222 wrote:I keep shrimps+My birthday is 22nd of February

I can read that with admiration, one fish guy to another, or I can read that as a parent of teenagers (which I am). This brings about thoughts of stress and worry... Should we pray for your parents? Re: What does your username mean?
When I first went online I wanted to use my name Jerry Smith, but there are way too many of us. My kids said I had to think up something unique and descriptive. Well, I work in Electroplating, so its Jerrytheplater everywhere I sign up. Its funny because I love to garden and grow aquatic plants. So many people read it as Jerrytheplanter.
Re: What does your username mean?
Self explanatory - one of the coolest Genera - not a catfish, but cool regardless (I hope posting here counts as a post to not have my account taken away )
