On another note, since we are into Peruvian plecos, some more questions Jools (and the other experts), hope you don't mind:
1. What's the difference between the L203 and L90? "Papa panaques" are readily available here in Manila, but I haven't seen a true L90, the white tail panaque. Do the L90a and L90c referred to in Aqualog also have white tails?
2. I read information in a Japanese site (the text was translated already to English) that L90s (or at the very least similar panaques) are also found in the Rio Solimoes basin in Manaus, Brazil?
3. Aqualog has a picture of LDA29, the red brown panaque. Is this rare?

Hi !
For what I know there is a "L90" population that is found in the region of Manaus , and that is exported by K2. The big diiference between the Peruvain pop and the Manaus pop is that the Manaus pop being mostly whited body compare to the dark brown/balck of the Peruvian pop, still they are considered as belonging to the same species and the difference in colour being an adaptation to different water condition
L90 also show a great variability between ages. Very young specimens hardly show any white markings...it just get more important as he put up in size.
Cheers

I too am interestedin the "L90s" and Panaques in general. Can anyone answer Macondo's Question#3?
Also, we have a lot of this "carachama papa" or what has been labelled as papa panaque or L90, as well. I check Catelog and the picture I see is different from what we normally have here. I check Aqualog and I see that the L90c is what looks more like what we have. I check catelog again and I see that the closest to an L90c from Aqualog is the L203.
Questions: Is the L90c in Aqualog really the L203 in Catelog? So what do I have? We have been told by the importer that these fish here comes from Peru.
