Humped corydoras
Hi there!
I just got this today.
This corydora is from Amazon river basin. Upper Itaya river (Yanayacu area). This is obviously reticulated... but I have no idea about species.
Any contributions will be appreciated.

Re: Humped corydoras
More likely to be , since C. reticulatus is from Lower Amazon, and the C. sodalis is from a drainage in Upper Amazon.

Re: Humped corydoras
I like this id. The 6th picture in the catelog has a slight hump. this specimen might just be older so the hump is more pronounced.Dave Rinaldo wrote:Why not ?

Re: Humped corydoras
This C. sodalis looks pretty humped too:

@Gorzak: Where are the fish you say are "common reticulatus" from? If they are collected in Peru, I'd say it's unlikely to be the same species that is found in Eastern Brazil?

Re: Humped corydoras
Mats,
They are widespread. I've collected C. reticulatus in the upper Amazon - see here. The difference is the blotch in the dorsal. Bear in mind these are main channel fishes - so they're everywhere!
It's more the question, why the hump?

Re: Humped corydoras
CW061 (shipped from Colombia) is similar to sodalis and reticulatus, and also has a hump (this specimen is greyed out):

Re: Humped corydoras
Ok guys,
To me the fish is C. sp CW061 and not C. reticulatus.
C. reticulatus has a dark brown matt reticulated pattern and not a silvery metallic. This difference is very similar to those between C. rabauti (Matt band) C. zygatus (metalic band).
Cw061 may just turn out to be C. sodalis (which it is very close to) with a dorsal blotch.

Re: Humped corydoras
Thanks very much Ian.
Corys with that "hump" are not common
Only Armatus I think...
Here's a photo of another humped cory, this time an Armatus...

Re: Humped corydoras
it is neat seeing these humps on corydoras. Is this a genetic mutation or something that was caused by an incident when young (or still unknown?)
