sexing L25 from the top

Post by Jkhuu »

Hello all,

Need help sexing this L25 (Bottom fish). Approx. 11"-12". I've attached 2 pics with it compared to other L25s. The bottom fish of both pics are the same fish, the top fishes are different.

Thanks in advance.

I think the bottom one is a female. Its sharp head shape, round body and less odotons than the others.
Can you post a pic from the side of the fish and with the dorsal fin up to se the shape of the whole fish.

Hi Ole, I will definitely try to take a full side view pics of the fish. He/she currently hiding underneath a piece of driftwood. Will post new pics shortly...

Hi Tofi,

Looking forward to reading about the "Potamotrygon adventure" of yours. I agree with you about these fishes. They are my favorite of all plecos.

Apologies to Ole and all for the delay. Finally got some full shots of the fish from the side. Crappy pics, but hopefully will give an idea. One thing I found out about this fish is that it allowed me to pick it up with my hands...very calm.
