Re: FS 5" Synodontis Angelicus X Euptera Hybrids
that's a lot of money for a Czech hybrid you can -unfortunately- buy anywhere for a nickle and a dime....
and breeding them is a no go; the hobby's polluted enough as it is with these
luckily they're probably sterile or only breedable by injecting them with hormones though a needle.
btw this is ocellifer x euptera, not angelica x euptera

Re: FS 5" Synodontis Angelicus X Euptera Hybrids
You could have sent me a PM with the info being I'm trying to sell them. I would have had no problem editing my for sale thread. BTW I'm in the pet trade and have nevere seen them offered at my local wholesalers here in the tri stae area. They are a Angelicus Hybrid and that was what they were sold by the guy that bred them.I'm only gussing that it was angelica X euptera it may be angelica X ocellifer.

Re: FS 5" Synodontis Angelicus X Euptera Hybrids
Hi Vinman, good to hear from you. I am Viktor (formerly from Rochester NY). We spoke on the phone a few times.
Man-made hybrids are a touchy subject and are strongly disliked by most people here, especially mods and experts such as SidGuppy. It is thought of as a very unfortunate, cruel, inhumane, and sad circumstance that they keep being produced (not food-intended fish) and, thus, logically, I imagine Jools and the elite would not want to participate in aiding this practice in any shape or form. However, the fish that already exists - not for their own fault - should be cared for and loved as any other.
Just wanted to explain (with the best of intentions) that this is an explosive territory you are venturing into.
Peace, Bro

Re: FS 5" Synodontis Angelicus X Euptera Hybrids
You may be very right but I, a naivete, too doubt this has S. angelica in the lineage. Looks like a typical "jaguar syno" that can be found almost everywhere, most commonly and cheaply produced by ocellifer x euptera - two cheap parents. Angelica is 10 timers more expensive of a fish.

Yes I remember you. hope all is well. I have had may Angelicus over the years. I like the tan spots on the rich brown background. Not to fond of the black and white ones. So what do you think it is worth being you used to live in the same state as me. Because none of my suppliers carry them

Re: FS 5" Synodontis Angelicus X Euptera Hybrids
If my supposition is right and they are the typical "jaguar syno", I've seen them almost everywhere I went to. They usually go for $5-$10 for 2"-3"-ers. For 5"-ers, may or may not be slightly more. ~10" returns/trade-ins are often found for $25-$35 all over the Eastern US.
I like black-and-white over tan-brown by far. It's a matter of taste, is all. Never had b&W or even seen one live. Always tan-brown.

I could have, yes; but I choose not to do soYou could have sent me a PM with the info being I'm trying to sell them
why?
because this is a forum
people are entitled to have opinions on subjects and are allowed to voice them
if that's inconvenient, there's always Ebay.

I am posting below Planetcatfish's comments and recommendations to sellers. It is included as a sticky here http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/view ... 23&t=34098
I have carefully read this thread several times and Sid's comments are well within acceptable. Your opinions, however, of Sid's character border on a personal attack and will certainly do nothing to help you attract customers.

A commercial post is where the seller is not a private individual and is operating as a company. But these guidelines may also add value to all sellers posts.
You are welcome to post stock lists; fishes and anything else within the forum rules. However, you are more likely to annoy than attract customers unless you do it well! Here are some guidelines on best practice.
People will follow (subscribe) to your thread. Therefore, and to stop too many threads from one entity, I would ask you to keep all the posts in one thread, say call it "Acme Fish Store Stock" and keep updating it with new posts as new things become available. Lots and lots of threads with one post is not appreciated/good by the site or your customers.
Adding your own pics of the fish is good. Adding pics of the species taken by someone else is a very good way to turn folks off and may be illegal! Bear in mind using an image without permission to make profit is pretty poor show, and not the same as posting it in a non-commercial discussion.
You should post prices, but be prepared to discuss them either openly or by pm. That's up to you.
Check the names and learn how to use the clog tag feature to link to the species - that WILL get you kudos. e.g. L034 or Blue Catfish or Corydoras trilineatus. Correctly ID'ed fish will get you noticed. Just regurgitating trade names is a good way to demonstrate a lack of understanding.
Also, be prepared you will get all sorts of questions - but then you work in a shop - you will be used to that! The team will moderate if required, but you are putting yourself out there (and gaining the benefits of doing so) but you may need to publicly defend a position.
Dyed or injected fish will get you quick scorn. Hybrids are also a hot topic and selling them may also give you a hard time or just switch people off a bit.
If in doubt ask either by PM to me or by replying to this thread. You may also wish to PM me prior to your first post and thus be able to preface that post with "posted with permission". It is good for others to know you were kind enough to ask first!

I under stand the rules but there is also a bit of common sense involved too. Like I said there is right and a wrong way to do everything. You don't make friends by being mean even if it is within the rules. You get more with honey than you do with vinegar . As far as I see it that was pure vinegar. A little bit of honey goes a long way and gets you respect too. That is all I'm saying

Re: FS 5" Synodontis Angelicus X Euptera Hybrids
I thought Sid was rather civil in his comments. PlanetCatfish doesn't hold hybrids in high degree and a search of the forums would show that. Perhaps try Monsterfishkeepers; they tend to like hybrids more over there.
But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I will be unique in all the world..... You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.

Taratron, IMHO you are clouding up a rather clean argument: it about courtesy, not hybrids.
Vinman, you are obviously a novice here, because everyone who's been here a length of time knows that SidGuppy is a great, wonderful expert and walking random fish knowledge encyclopedia, tremendous asset to this forum, and also does not hold back almost anything. That's the way he is. He speaks his mind. Sometimes to his disadvantage, but he just does. He also can be hugely entertaining but he is, how shall I put it mildly... "rough on the edges" Also, he is one of the most passionate haters of the syno hybrid industry, and given this knowledge, you, I am sure, would agree that his post was rather civil.
Lex (SidGuppy), I know you do not need me defending you but this is just my awkward attempt to clear things up and re-install a fragile peace...

I'm the same way but learned to bit my tongue. I learned you can inform somebody with out ruining their for sale thread. I also have a vast knowledge of fish and reptiles.Viktor Jarikov wrote:Taratron, IMHO you are clouding up a rather clean argument: it about courtesy, not hybrids.
