Looks like nicely patterned common . However, there are other fish that look similar. What was it sold as?

Ageed, it's clearly not .

On a side on view, is there a small black dot at the bottom between the first and second ray of the dorsal? This is found on several species, including the common variety.

A side on-photo would also help.
