I am a long way from even close to being a hypan guru, but it does look somewhat like my 270's (well I bought them as 270 anyway).
Motorcycles are not an expensive hobby, try keeping L-cats in Australia

That's the case with pretty much all Hypancistrus, so I'm assuming yes.andywoolloo wrote:hmmm , maybe as babies they are more straight?

The eye colour doesn't match however that's a bit unreliable. My first thought is this is what might look like as a youngster but I've never seen one this size. Hence why I've thrown it out for discussion here.

Hi!!
For sure this Hypancistrus is a member of the Rio Xingu complex!!
Which one might prove to be a nightmare to identified but at least we have reduce the river system...
Being very variable it could be anything
Taxonomy studies will surely prove how close from each other these fish are...
I am aware of 2 Hypancistrus will be considered as one...now there are a few other
Cheers

Re: What is this not wavy lined Hypancistrus?
Hi,
I love this pattern! Body shape looks like L 400 / L 399 / L 66 and even L 287. The pattern is untypical for all of this Variants. I have seen lots of Xingu-Type fry, but never such a pattern. This fish is too young to identify.
Please post pictures, when it is adult, would be interesting...

A Xingu type.
Nice pleco - does the other side have the same pattern?
I've seen plecos one side straight lines and the other side wavy.
