Hmm.. I guess not, as P.brichardi was already in the list of previously used species! I should check that list first, next time!

Re: what am I?
Bear in mind that it's not FORBIDDEN to have species already featured, as long as the clue is different... (Opposite to the philosophy professor at the university who gave his assistant this years exam, and was told "But this is the same exam as last year..." and the professor replied "Yes, but the answers are different...").

you're wrong twice in so few letters. that's probably a personal recordHmm.. I guess not, as P.brichardi was already in the list of previously used species! I should check that list first, next time!
why right away assume that I did not?
as things are: I DID check the list
and it's not "P brichardi"

Re: what am I?
No, but crkinney was referring to his posting on the previous page. I don't want to be rude, but I deleted his second posting in which he asked "who wrote that poem" because it had nothing to do with the (then) current riddle regarding Kryptoglanis.sidguppy wrote:no poem involved anywhere. should there be?
You may of course start a riddle, but only if you correctly answer the previous one. That is the rule of the game -).

Re: what am I?
You seem to have misunderstood me. I meant that it was me who didn't check the list, and therefore guessed P.brichardi in vain. I actually assumed, correctly, that you did check the list. That's why, when I checked the list myself after already guessing, I already figured I was wrong (what I meant by "I guess not"). Sorry for any misunderstandings!sidguppy wrote: why right away assume that I did not?

Re: what am I?
What page did say that, Marc? www.alchemy-r-us.org or www.science-done-wrong.net perhaps? Mg is element number 12 [I wrote that BEFORE checking the table below, but I wasn't entirely sure - after checking I can say it's right tho' I know from my school years the word(sic) "H-HeLi-BeB-CNOF-Ne" which is the 10 first elements].
Here is a periodic table for you to look at.

Re: what am I?
So, Sid, are we along the tracks:
1. Something to do with Asterix and the Gauls?
2. a) Fond of oxygen. b) I'm guessing you are referring to the film here and specifically Milla Jovovich?
3. Lives in a strong current and scrapes its food off the substrate?

Re: what am I?
you and Snafmun are both on the right track
loves/needs oxygen, good looking (although not as good looking as Mila Jovovich ) , scraping food, strong current; Snafmun already figured out the bit about Asterix ;)
almost there!

Re: what am I?
nope, it's a much simpeler and by all means more well known fish.
remember; I ain't too good at this at all; so it's pretty straightforward as things go.
Snafumen was really close. and RickE made some very good guesses too.

My genus name is a cross between a glass catfish and a European wels.
lol (laugh out loud)
believe it or not I was going to guess wels catfish, but I remembered those spawn in shallower waters (correct me if im wrong)

Hmm... Now, this fish was also on the list, but otherwise seems to fit. Don't know how it would fit with the hybrids as I haven't been keeping an eye on them. ?

Re: what am I?
spot on!
I checked the list but
a: it was not alphabetical.....
b; it then turned into a Wall of Text
so I missed this one!
but you got it
"brichard"(like the phyllonemus) is the cichlid man hidden by six Asterix
it's a rheophile (Oxygen and fast current)
and it grazes, what it feeds on but doesn't need to graze sure isn't a fast moving organism
and hybrids made from this species don't even look like it at all
take it awayyyyyyy ;)

Re: what am I?
Well, I guess it's my turn!
Let's see...
Cute and striped, I could be differentiated from most of my congeners by having dark longitudinal stripes on a lighter body. Of those who share this particular characteristic I am the most recently described.
I might share one of the above mentioned (in the last riddle) characteristics and/or habits of .
Sorry if it's too vague. I'll happily add more clues if required.

Another clue: I am not the most common catfish being exported from my country of origin. However, if you were to look at the most common catfish export you'd probably be looking at fillets!
