I like the look of the pieces of tile on the arch

if you put some grout in-between the tiles it would look like a rock arch

very cool

Yeah, I pondered that too. Both with grout and without grout have their advantages. The PermAquarium has the floor and the bottom of the walls grouted wherever tiled - so you can compare. Grouting of the three arches would take at least 40-80 h of work - so I opted out :)

Yes, it is pretty much immobilized and a part of the house for sale now. It was and still is hard, especially for my better half who cannot let go. It definitely feels like we left a piece of our heart and soul in there and, hence, I prefer not to think about it to be strong for the both of us. One cryer per family is enough :)

I am sure the next family to live there will love it as much as we who have seen it and yourselves.

My gosh. I can't imagine having that type of patience working on this forever.

I can't imagine scouring through the rocks/etc and trying to put it all together. Pure genius.

I would have loved to spend a hour in the bathroom with the candle and just watch the colors pop out with the flame dancing. Just pure amazing like a wonderland

BTW how the heck did you stick the glass into the wall (I'm no artist)

Thanks. That is my cherished hope too that people will like it and not remove it. But hey, I have no control anymore. Let the chips fall as they may.

Now, you are wa-a-ay too generous but I appreciate your encouragement! Genius is Monet, Dali, Michelangelo, and Co. This? This is a primitive artistic skill plus, indeed, a truckload of patience.

I enjoyed it too, for the most (90%) part.

Now that's one cool idea we missed. Indeed, this experiment promises to provide for a mystical, mesmerizing scenery.

All the materials you saw - glass gems, river rocks, pieces of tile, and seashells and Co were glued with a thin-set mortar mix - you can buy a premixed 2.5 gal, short bucket of it from Home Depot or Lowe's for $40. The whole bathroom used about one bucket, most of it on the floor, of course, for strength.

This stuff sticks to anything - wood, metal, drywall, paint, etc. It is like a high quality concrete mix but lacking the fine stone and any other crude inclusions.

I find it extremely handy to have in a household. On par with the most powerful secret weapon of any handyman - duct tape.
