Quite a lot of catfish publications in this issu with the description of 2 new Baryancistrus from the Rio Xingu!!

One of the gold nugget is described, don't know if all are fit under one species or they are being treated separately.

Baryancistrus xanthellus = L 18, L 85, L 177
It seems that L 81 has to wait some more time for it´s description.

Given the size and problems in downloading this Baryancistrus paper, and as it's open access anyway, I have uploaded the paper here.

I hope this is not in breach of copyright, and I will take it down if there are any problems.

Will do the Trachycorystes one too, if that ever finishes downloading ...

Ok so it wasn't just me who had enormous problem to download the papers, I have try to download it from various computer always had same problem.
If anyone can send me the Trichomycterus paper that would be great!!!

I guess I ll wait for the other publications from this volume

I feel that the omission of was simply an oversight on the author's behalf. Having read the description, I can't see any reason why L081 cannot be included under Baryancistrus xanthellus.

Hmmm, except the paper does explicitly mention l-numbers and, given the authors participation (and copious note taking) at the inaugural l-numbers convention, I find it hard to see it as an oversight.

I'd say L081 is a B. sp. cf. xanthellus for now.

L081 are from the lower Xingu at Porto de Moz, right? The study didn't sample that far downriver, but it's strange they didn't mention this L number, or discuss the possibility of unsampled populations and intraspecific variation.

L081 is much more widely spread in Xingu, lower Xingu, Altamira and even a variety at Sao Felix we call Stardust (same size of spots as all other L081 but lighter).
I just think they overlooked this L-number, maybe they didn't know the localities.

It went vastly unoticed because of the problem acceding the papers, but Hypoptopomatinae sp. (LG2) has been described in this volume as well as Otothyropsis piribebuy from what I could read on L-welse.com
