Megalechis growth rate

Post by kizno1 »

I got 8 Megalechis thoracata the other day, there about 2" now and i was just wondering how long it is likely to take for them to get to 4-5". Theres no importance to it i was just wondering since there seems tp be quite a big vary in the growth rate on variouse care sheets. Also what sort of size will the fish be able to breed at?

In my experience, they grow quite quickly - 3-4 months and they will be a good 3" - possibly 4". Not sure when they breed, as mine never did - probably too much water movement in my tank, and not enough floating plants, perhaps?

Thats alright then, at the moment there a very skinny 2" but i put a load of bloodworms in a minute ago and they disappeared in seconds so atleast they have a good appitie on them. This tank has a lot of water movments thats why i was wondering because then they get to breeding size i could remove 1m 2f or something like that to a 20G to see if they would spawn.
