Platysilurus mucosus growth?
I just picked up a 3 1/2" and I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on how quickly these cats grow. I know they are supposed to stay small, but I am wondering how long it should be before he gets around 5" and can go in my 165 gallon aquarium.
Does anybody have any experience with growth rate on these fish?
(mod edit: switched to clog tags so others can quickly look up the species. Birger)

I find them pretty shy by nature. So it takes longer when you mix it with other more out-going fishes.
My pair took abt 6 to 8 mths to get fm 4in to now abt 7 to 8in. but i am sure they have better growth rate if kept solo.

Hi Tyler, mine grew slowly and always held out for meaty foods, spitting out pellets and flakes.

Thanks for all the info. I am debating putting the catfish in my community aquarium then for a while until it gets larger. These guys are indeed really shy. I have mine in a tank with two Morgurnda gudgeons, and I had to feed these guys so much food in order for the cat to get any that after a week of feedings they spawned for the first time!
