Just got him out of a cold river!

It was swimming among some darter tetras..
what is it? pimelodela?

It might help more if you tell us which river it came from, but it does look like .

That's indeed a striking resemblance. I wonder if Mark Smith knows where it came from.

it was collected here
at quiriri river, Santa Catarina river, Southern Brasil!
I used to have one of these guys..
but it was a new tank, probably not fully cycled and he just couldn't make it!

This stream is not far from the sea, it is like 10 km away from a mangrove bay..
but all the water comes straight from the mountains, thats why it was cold!
