Collecting cats on the Rio Taruma
I wont bother copying the entire post here but for more visit my site at passionate4pikes.wordpress.com. (dont mean to plug my blog in everywhere but it is easier.
The water was not clear.
The effects of pollution can be clearly seen on this Laetecara sp. (note caudal fin)
First catfish. My first of this species of Corydoras, any IDs?
I caught so many juvi cories I thought they were a dwarf species lol.
An invasive species, this was one of three tilapia I caught on that trip.
Yes there were piranhas, and yes I got bit.
An interesting catfish. Rhamdia?
brochis splendens?
A nice crab, yes I got bit.
CRENICICHLA BABY!
My first otocinclus!

Great day collecting!
Is it possible to post the name for the location search term which can be found in Google maps?
There are often many rivers with similar names, and it can be hard to find the right one.

A few more
Type this in Google maps and it should show up, I fished right where the road curved to the right. Estrada do Tarumã, Manaus - Amazonas, Brasil
One more of another catfish I caught.

That last catfish is, I think, .
The right hand side is chopped off, so am going on what I can see.

Wow! I really need to go on a collecting trip, it must be awesome pulling out such a variation of fish from one small stream!
One more bucket of water and the farce is complete.

Yes I was amazed at all of the fish species caught here. In smaller creeks there are ussually than ten 6-7 species.

Re: Collecting cats on the Rio Taruma
Hi,
Rio Taruma is close to Manaus, right ?
It's not B. splendens, the dorsal doesn't have enough rays, this is one of many species of the aeneus complex.
I would name the other one C. cf. trilineatus, for C. julii it's too far up the amazone but it's also no typical C. trilineatus, might be something new.
Cheers,
