Any small Asian catfish?
I am trying to find a species of Asian catfish which will easily fit into a 60 litre aquarium and not eat small (10-20mm) mid-water schooling fish, but am having some trouble coming up with any species..
Are there any Asian catfish which are equivalent to something like Corydoras pygmaeus in size and temperament?

Re: Any small Asian catfish?
In asia, "cory habitat" is covered by loaches, so there is really nothing corresponding to corys in Asia.
There are several small catfish from Asia, but not sure they match your criteria as such.
In Sisoridae, and are both genera with relatively small species in them.
In Batgridae, and have a few small members.
I'm sure there are others that can come up with better suggestions.

If your setup is soft and acidic enough, .

I did think of loaches first, but there aren't any which I would be happy putting into a 2ft tank, given their activity level. Even the smallest ones make up for the size with the behaviour.MatsP wrote:In asia, "cory habitat" is covered by loaches, so there is really nothing corresponding to corys in Asia.
I am now looking at (aka Erethistes jerdoni), and as alternatives.. but what are they like with small fish? By small, I mean 20 mm, skinny Boraras species. All of those cats have suspiciously large looking mouths..MatsP wrote: There are several small catfish from Asia, but not sure they match your criteria as such.

I am also looking at , which look lovely, but I am unsure what pH/hardness the tank will be at, so possibly not an option.

Boraras will be safe with those fish, although most Boraras prefer the softer, acidic water more favored by the Hyalobagrus than these cats.KittyKat wrote: I am now looking at (aka Erethistes jerdoni), and as alternatives.. but what are they like with small fish?
