Small Asian Catfish

Post by Whiplash4ever »

I'm wondering what, if any, species of catfish is out there that is in the same ballpark in size as the South American Bumblebee catfish. I'm always looking at craigslist to upgrade my aquariums, but my current Asian tank is only a 29 gallon so obviously my favorite Asian Cat (Asian Redtail) is out of the question for the moment (forever really because the other tank mates will be to small for the over all size that big fella will become).

Any thoughts?

Mystus carcio, Mystus tengara and Rama chandramara are all small to medium sized catfish that would fit in your tank.

What are the other fish in the tank???

Major: Now what's this... stone, stone, stone, (looks down at his hand) and scissors. Now. Scissors cut everything, don't they?
Sergeant: Not stone, sir.
Major: They're very good scissors!!

Often sold as "Mystus tengara" or other stripey fish, grows to 4-5", so would work in a 29g tank as a small group.

I think there are loads of species that fit the bill but the trick is to see what species are available. Have you considered Akysis?
Lou: Every young man's fantasy is to have a three-way.
Jacob: Yeah not with another fu**!ng guy!
Lou: It's still a three-way!

Why would that be kingkashif? Please answer, as, at present, you look very much like a lurking spammer to me. PM me if you aren't.

Cheers,
