Zcliff caves and fry savers
Hi All,
Just a note to let you know I am still building top quality caves and fry savers. My fry savers are sold out and currently being redesigned with the help from Dr. Stephan Tanner of SWISS TROPICALS ( big thanks Dr Stephan) Currently taking orders for them and will be available shortly. They will of course be made with the PORET Filter Foam Estimate of cost between $30.00 and $40.00 plus shipping world wide. US $9.85 Canada $23.95 everywhere else $38.95 Good news the medium flat rate box will hold 2 savers.
OLD STYLE BELOW
BELOW ARE PICS OF SOME CAVES I MADE I DO MAKE SPECIAL ORDERS,
ZCLIFF'S SLATE CAVES $5.00
ZCLIFF'S BLACK GRANITE CAVES $8.00
Thanks,
Larry

Re: ZCLIFF CAVES AND FRY SAVERS
Hey could you give me a quote on a slate and granite cave with the following dimensions?
20cm long x 9cm width x 6cm tall Cheers Mate

Re: Zcliff caves and fry savers
have you checked on aquabid? under the breeding supply section?
or I am sure someone at this forum has made some before.
did you do a search?

Re: Zcliff caves and fry savers
I'm assuming "Aberdeen" is Northern Scotland, rather than one of the other places in the world that is also named after this place. In which case, I'd think that zcliff and aquabid are both going to be fairly expensive with regards to shipping.

May I then suggest that you edit your "location" in the "User Control Panel" settings - because it may make a difference in other aspects too...

Re: Zcliff caves and fry savers
i could have sworn there were some threads in here on making those. I can't find them.
I wish we had a specific DIY section, or do we?

Re: Zcliff caves and fry savers
We don't, and I think it would be pretty thinly populated, but it would certainly make it easier to find stuff.andywoolloo wrote:i could have sworn there were some threads in here on making those. I can't find them.

Ingredients:
1. Some stone (or similar) material.
2. Suitable cutter for said material (e.g. angle-grinder )
3. Silicon.
Method:
1. Calculate required inside measurements.
2. For the one side of the rectangle forming the cave opening, add 2 x the thickness of the material.
3. Cut the four sides of the cave.
4. Cut an end-piece.
5. Silicon on one edge of the stone. Stick to one of the other side bits. Repeat until all four sides are together. Some tape can help keep things in place while the silicon sets.
6. Stick the back piece on with silicon.
7. Job done...

Re: caves
I'm planning to rent a wet saw this spring and invest a couple of hours cutting up slate tiles into cave size pieces. I hope to never have to worry about caves again.
