Post by Plecoholic »

Hi,
Can someone sex these L128s. They range from 13cm to 16cm.
Sorry the pics are not the best.

Thanks

All males, I think. It is POSSIBLE that photo3 is female. Let them grow out a bit, and see if the third one gets more "belly".

Thanks Mats.
I thought Photo 1 could have been a female. It seems a lot fatter around the belly??

Photo one's head is wider than the body, and in my experience that is definitely a sign of male.

Thought I'd put mine in here rather than starting a new thread for the same purpose. 1 and 2 are new pick ups, about 14cm and 12cm, pic three is a pic of my one I've had for a couple of years now, its pretty low quality but I only had my phone on me when I noticed it on the glass.

I'd call #2 female, rest male. But I think I said so earlier in this thread: these are not the easiest fish to sex...

Thanks Mats, hopefully the large tank negates any problems caused by the less-than-ideal m:f ratio. I was thinking the last one was female looking at this photo and comparing the width of the head to the width of the body. Or is the less rounded belly the reason you said male?

I appreciate that they're not the easiest fish to sex....

I still think your last photo is a male - head width and tummy size both say male - I'm not saying I'm 100% sure.

They are generally OK in a group of multiple males - at least in my experience with having three males (thinking that it was one male and two females!)

Thanks, I guess only time will tell. I'll chuck in some suitable caves and hope for the best....
