Orange spot BN weird colour
Orange spot BN weird colour
Hi all, I was doing tank checks and noticed this,
This is one of my 2 orange spot BNs, has had normal colouration unitl this point.
Size approx 10cm
Still eating well, does not appear to be stressed.
Tank pH 6.8, GH 5, all other parameters normal (orange spot tank bottom pic)
Weekly 25% water changes, HOB filtration
Other orange spot looking fine
I think it is just a temporary change in base colour, but I want to be sure.
Any thoughts?
Has anyone seen this sort of dramatic change in colour on an OS before?
I will keep both eyes on it anyways!

Re: Orange spot BN weird colour
The orange colored fish looks to be female or immature yet. Are both of the pictured fish "roommates"? If so the male could be picking on her or trying to trap her for a spawn and she is not ready. Looks stressed to me.My male bn is quite aggressive and even territorial by his cave and if the females come around he instinctivaly tries to trap the and if they arent receptive he chases them to a corner of the tank.
Lets go Red Wings

Yes they are in the same tank,
I was thinking it may be female, still has the same colouration now (12hrs later)
Have not seen the 2 fish anywhere near eachother, but hey until yesterday I rarely saw them at all.
Have added a proper log cave in the hope the female will become more receptive.
Thankyou for the reply,
I was just a bit concerned because the change in colour was so very dramatic, and I have never seen it look like this before.

6 days later, seems to be changing back to original colour.
