Have you tried aquabid - that's probably your best option. I can almost guarantee that there are half a dozen people selling H. zebra on aquabid at any given time.

Aquabid is probably the best place. What's on their changes daily. Usually someone selling Zebra fry is only on there for month before they sell out. I've seen little 1.5" go as cheap as $100-$125 with $150-$200 being an average price for larger individuals.

yeah.. 100 would be ok. I don't think I could do more, not for financial reasons, but cause I really dont see the justification in charging so much for this particular fish, as beautiful as they are.. Why is this particular species so rare/expensive? Is it because of exporting laws? I'd be willing to pay 100. I just remember when this species was much cheaper. I'm not in a rush though. I will wait till I could find a reasonable price/location. I would think it would be easier to find around my parts considering i'm from Miami. But apparently this fishes rarity doesn't ignore province.

That's a really good price but i'm really not looking to buy 6.. I would like a breeding pair. Don't want more than that ATM.

The trouble with getting a breeding pair is that you are then paying for mature fish, which makes them more expensive. So you may save a little over having 6 juvenile fish, but I doubt you're going to get mature, sexed fish at less than $250 each.

hm, that kinda blows. I guess i'd be happy with just one for now.. wait till it's sexually mature enough to be sexed, then buy an adult of the opposite gender. How are H. Zebra's sexed? What does one look for?

And what if that only "one" of them died on you?

will you gripe about losing $100?

Think of buying a group as a nice investment and insurance as they're super slow growers hence the asking price starting at $125 and be willing to do group buys to get them cheaper than that.
