Hey Yann,

I am a personal friend of longlong2, we go to the same shops so I can answer the question for him. These are all wild caught plecos imported from Germany.

Well that is definitely a long long way to go to get plecs. They are wild caught from South America, exported to Germany, exported again to HongKong? These may have easily stopped by Singapore as well (?) since most of the stuff brought in to the South East Asia Region pass by Singapore, IMHO. What a wild and wolly ride!

Then what Longlong may have gotten is the best of the best. How many lories may have been lost in that voyage? A whole lot I would think.

By the way, they really are nice. BTW, why are they in a separate tank? Are you acclimatizing them? Or conditioning them?

HI Yann,

Sorry for the late reply... But it is a know fact in Hong Kong that German fish generally arrive more healthy and in better condition than S amercan fish if they are shipped directly! This is the truth. HK people are often willing to pay more for German fish then S. AMerican fish. ALso, I know a serveral shop owners and they tell me that not many at all plecos die on their way from Germany. ONly perhaps 6-10 out of hundreds. They can also get money back from the Germans if the plecos arrive dead.
