I've installed and registered the forum with Tapatalk thus enabling native support via the appstore (or equivalent) and tapatalk. Platforms supported are iPhone, Android, webOS, Windows Phone 7, BlackBerry and Nokia.
Would appreciate any replies from folks who use it - keen to see if it's used much. I am writing this as my first post on an iPod!

The Facebook integration is nice.
Also, I am thinking collecting trips, you can insert maps of your location:
Stanton Saint Quintin, Chippenham, Wiltshire SN14 6DQ, UK
All I did to add that was click on "insert my location". Wow

When you are viewing a post, there is a "reply" button in "options" (at least on my Nokia N97).

Seems to work fine on my Nexus One using Android 2.2.
I mainly use the cat-elog when out on my phone rather than the forum the only issue I've encountered is being in a fish shop with no network coverage!

Yeah, figuring it out as I go along too. However, it means one can roll into your LFS, snap a pic of a fish, upload it and assuming it's reasonably good have it ID'ed while you're next door in [*insert your significant others favourite store here*] and then look it up in the catelog.
I note a Tesco app that reads the barcodes of pretty much any groceries in my house and adds it to my shopping list (and if I want will deliver it). We can't do that with fish, but we're getting close!

A bit of image recognition software, and a large dollop of CPU usage, and we may be able to do that too! - Would of course be much easier if we had bar-codes (that were accurate) on the tank-label - but then if the tank-label is correct, we would't need the feature we're discussin anyways.Jools wrote:I note a Tesco app that reads the barcodes of pretty much any groceries in my house and adds it to my shopping list (and if I want will deliver it). So, 24 hours and I note 53 users of this new facility. That's quite good. What surprised me is that about 60% were android users. The rest being iPhone. I tried the blackberry app too, but it's still beta and so nowhere near as good as the iPhone implementation.

Man, you guys are keen! In a word, no. It is very unlikely this will ever be the case. However, it might be the case the forum will have a mobile skin and so both catelog and forum would be mobile optimised. I am working towards use of the new HTML media facility to appropriately size the catelog for better use on a mobile, but it's already quite good.andywoolloo wrote:so is there no way to access the catalog from the app? seems just the forum.

Re: 1st February 2011 - iPhone,Android,Blackberry forum acc
Going back a couple of posts to the one about barcodes, i have recently found "Google goggles" which is part of the google app on the iphone and I think is on android under the full name. This lets you just take a picture instead of typing in a search term and it then tells you what it is and gives you a google search and so on. I was quite amazed at how accurate it was on everyday items but I haven't tried it on a fish yet!!
