Sorry to hear your fish didn't make it.
Sincerely,

I have a degree in biology and work as an engineer. Both disciplines can (and do) come in handy at the pub.And I've got to say, even after studying Biology for 2 1/2 years (and dropping out to become an engineer), I know more about bacteria than I did a week ago. More mind numbingly dull and irrelevant facts to spout in the pub!
Sorry to hear your fish didn't make it.
Sincerely,
Paul E. Turley

A toast to you.
I'm very sorry to here that the plec didn't make it. You should be commended for your effort. Be sure and let us know what the vet has to say. Later, Mike
Plecos are the true centerpieces of any aquarium. Everything else just swims around them!!

Well, the jury is back on the L091, and this is the answer.
"The major finding is a profound bacterial enteritis which has caused significant intestinal pathology. Difficult to say where the fish may have picked this up from. I suspect that the fish may have been debilitated when you got it and was very susceptible to the condition. The skin and fin lesions appear to be secondary to itâ??s debilitated state."
UNfortunately it doesn't provide any answers as to how we can prevent such a thing happenning again apart from making the fish is as stress free as possible in order to ensure it has the immune system to fight such problems.
cheers for all the help guys.

My wife made the mistake of buying me a 2 ft tank and it grew to 7ft.
