Genus Sexing Question

How is a genus sexed??? For example, I recently found out that the genus Pseudolaguvia is feminine. How is this arrived at???

Depending on the matter, it can be stated by the describer, be a result of grammativcal rules, or deduced

For instance, if the genus names means something like 'catfish' this is a known Latin word - and normal rules can be applied

If the genus is to honor someone, this someone is eithe a man or a woman

If the genus name is not Latin - but for instance deduced from another language (Uaru, for instance) quite often the describer will state what grammatical genus (male, female or neutral) it is

And if this is not stated, but the species the genus refers to is made to end in a certain way, those who had Latin in school will know what it is

BUT unfortunately, one can not come with rules of thumb
