L-088

Post by Birger Amundsen »

Was so lucky and traded some cory with Ingo Seidel for some L-088 juveniles. Cant se there are many that keeps them?

Norman Behr, and Ingo Seidel, looking at some L-cats. In the background, Rune Birkeland, who stole most of my L-052 juveniles, guess that`s why he has that big grin on his face :D

Congratulations! would you have any pictures of the L088 adults? there is often a confusion with the L088 and L338

I do not have any of the above species but they are truly beautiful

The L88 and L338 are indeed fairly similar. I think Ingo is competent to tell them apart, however.

Saul just mentioned for Intrepidmax that L088 and L338 is very difficult to tell apart, maybe Ingo has seen his or her fish too. The fact is that L338 is far more common and L088 very rare in the hobby, it would be very interesting to see a picture of the adults and if possible to know if they was exported from Manaus or Belem.

Hi everyone.

Sorry it's been a while. Ok I will at some point try to get pics of my L088. My biggest concern is a mis-identification due to the colour change I get from these fish....I have observed that these will change from a chocolate brown with lighter patches and pepper spots of the lighter brown ...all the way to an almost jet black. These ain't big fish ...they are much smaller than my L182 and commons ....

Also to note on this: the fry ...colour change also and I have noticed the adults will all colour change at the same time...while the fry will go their own colour.

I will try get pics as soon as I have a decent photo tank for getting a nice close up pic.

Best regards
Mark Mcleod.

My L-088 are about the same size, but are completely dark, but with the same white seam. I`l try and get a photo of one.

The seam on the L338 has a definite yellow tint and the smaller fry have spots
to begin with and also have an overall red body tint until around 1.25" (3 cm).
A photo of L088 would be great as a direct comparison to L338.

Not the best picks, but you can clearly se the difference in the two species.
