pleco aggression

Post by hazard »

Does anyone know how aggressive L46, L128, L134 plecos are. I was going to have these guys in the same tank. Will I have to deal with constant fighting or will they get along. There will be enough space and hiding places for them.

My 5 L46 and 8 L160 are together in a 40 gallon breeder tank stacked with rockwork and bog wood, and they are all getting along well enough. I see some squabbles at feeding time, but nothing serious, and they all are definitely getting their fill at the dinner table.

Not so sure about the L128. Read this and decide.

I've got L134 and L046 in a tank with plants and driftwood and 2 caves and never have problems. they both seem quite laid back. There's also an L200 in the tank, very similar and maybe same species as L128... I've never had problems.

From what I have observed as long as they are different types of pleco they seem to be ok. It's when you get two males of the same type in a tank together you have to worry.
Plecos are the true centerpieces of any aquarium. Everything else just swims around them!!

27 members of Loricariidae, 12 different species.
