yep, you're daft
second star to the left in the morning, and don't forget to park near Platurnus; that's the elusive hidden planet between Pluto and Saturn. You can't see it, because it's hidden....
It's a refuge for the worst space scum and other galaxial trash.
Sorry couldn't resist!
btw Mand, where on THIS planet is your current hide-out?

The point everyone was trying to make, is that there are many different nationalities of people that enjoy talking about their catfish here. I personally haven't a clue where "the midlands" are, therefore I can't reply to your post. I'd guess most people here don't, or at least aren't sure which one you might be talking about.

Just to clarify for our international friends, the West Midlands is normally considered Birmingham and Coventry area. The East Midlands is NOttingham, Derby and Leicester areas. The Midlands refer normally to both.
And they really are near the middle of the country.
Phil.
PS Mand, maybe add UK to the profile too?

Not quite the West Midlands, but certainly edinburgh!!! Although I'm moved to the middle of nowhere now , and the closest thing I get to a club at the moment is when we have a power cut and the lights flicker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

alright! sorry for being cr*p, but i was only being friendly and having a bit of fun, sorry if that bothers anyone i would have thought that if you were out in the superclubs in the midlands you would certainly know about it, and if you'd never heard of it, then obviously you hadn't been! it was only a simple question, i'm used to more friendly message boards, didn't realise it was so serious in here

Hi Mand
I don't think anyone was bothered, and if you read the posts everyone is just having a laugh. The only thing is that people were confused by where the west Midlands are.
I really don't think anyone meant to offend you, there has just been some confusion on most parts.
On the point of clubbing and fish mixing, yeah I think they can...............so long as the speakers are far enough away from the tank.
Stay happy!!

Yes Mand,
It was all meant in fun i promise.
We have seen your cat related posts and realise you are not a pita that was trying to start trouble.
I used to go clubbing regularly in Edinburgh, but that was a few years ago now.
I have only been a few times in Nottingham. (i did go The Works, is that the sort of place you mean?) These bones arent as young as they used to be, I am 30 now ! LMAO

This forum is so wonderfully international it takes us a while to stop being serious. There is also a "location" thing that most regulars get hung up about because it does make fish chat pretty tough without it. Thus I made it a forum "rule".

Ever get up to Edinburgh clubbing? I used to be found in a club called pure a LONG time ago. Early Manchester stuff and all that. Last clubbing sesh was in Dumfries of all places! I would like another poll option - yes, but I'm getting too fat for it now.
I agree with you about the chill-out fish tanks though!

I like clubbing (if its decent music like drum and bass, and I could probably get into a night of techno, but not out of choice!) but sorry, don't live in the Midlands.
Perhaps clubbing and fish dont go together because people who like clubbing like loud music, which fish don't like the vibrations to.

You guys think in such straight lines! Why can't I go clubbing and own every Iron Maiden album on vinyl and CD? I'm sitting here writing this with (amongst other things) The Darkness and an Ibiza chill-out CD in my player. There's also a fleetwood mac album in there too!SG_Eurystomus wrote:Ah, well.....I guess YOU people probably say "huh?" when I talk about moshpits and pogo-ing.....

Later,

more beer for you, Paul!
It's not just loud & heavy music that I like, Jools
although I DO like heavy rock (Motorhead, Sepultura, Metallica), rock'n'roll (Brian setzer, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Reverent Horton Heat), stoner (QUOTSA, Kyuss, Orange Goblin), metal (Saxon, Iron Maiden), trash (Slayer), gothic (Type, o Negative, Within Temptation), punk (not those pimplebutts, but Exploited, Pistols, GBH etc) & industrial -no, I'm not talking about techno, but like Foetus, or Einsturzende Neubauten etc.
And Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Janis Joplin, Robert Johnson, Lester Butler, good ol' Rory, ZZ Top, Motown, Ska (Madness), Folk (Waterboys, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphy's) etc
music should be made by talented, passionate people!
using
or
or
or
or
and voice of course....
NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You want to make music and call yourself musician? start practicing!
music made by computers is like buying fish at wallmart
every nontalented twirp rips off samples from someone else's hard work or even worse, doesn't even use a PC but imagines himself an 'artist' by playing someone else's records....
remember Morissey? (and I even don't like the Smiths, too much of a wino's, but he had this right!)
Hang the DJ!

This is a great topic! What utter madness we're getting into. All good though, I don't mind too much as I guess the "speak easy" was intended as such. I need to know what music to play if any of you guys are visiting the fishroom...

Tragic view!
I hope your not in any way trying to insult DJ's or dandb.SG_Eurystomus wrote: You want to make music and call yourself musician? start practicing!

Hang the DJ!
If DJ's deserve to be hung and aren't 'artists' (and b.t.w. the dictionary counts them as artists - an artist is a 'devotee', a 'habitual practiser of a specified activity') then how come they produce novel works and how come not everyone who likes that music does it - because they can't because its difficult. It takes a lot of talent and skill to mix in two vinyls without messing up.
Your view has to be through lack of understanding. Its like someone saying that they can't understand how there is anything to fishkeeping apart from feeding it - they don't have a clue of what's involved until they become involved in the hobby.
If you reply to say that you can capably mix drum and bass keeping the beats in time and picking the right tunes to mix then I take this back.
Picking great samples to go in to a track also takes thought and has to be chosen carefully and timed carefully, but once its in a track your not making any claim to it being yours.
Hang the dirty metallers! (I did used to like metal its just go that awful as time has progressed).
P.S. It's amazing how protective people get over their hobbys. You should have heard me rant the other day when someone said to me 'How is there actually any way of falling off a horse?' after asking me why it was interesting.

I shower every morning, soon as I wake up, so....Hang the dirty metallers!
I kept it light hearted with a Morrisey-song for reference (for a UK'er not to know Morrisey, the Smiths or that song, where have you been?), but unfortunately....
I COULD have said:
"Hang the ego-centric, non-talented, megalomaniac, faking, filled with illegal braindraining XTCpills, empty-headed DJ"
BUT
I didn't
wich tells more about both you and me

The only reason I added the dirty was having been called a dirty metaller so many times myself it seemed to naturally fit into the insult. I am sure you are a very clean person.
I honestly have never heard of Morrisey or Smiths which is obviously why it didn't have the light-hearted effect. Where should I have been to have heard of them? Don't listen to the radio so that might be it.
The answer that I was looking for from your reply was whether or not you actually had any basis for your opinion, which you still havn't mentioned so I'm starting to suspect you may just be prejudiced.
I, however, actually have a comparison basis having listened to and been to events playing all sorts of music, including metal.
As I said previously, all is taken back if you have.
Are you sure your not getting confused with MC's when you are calling them egocentic, etc. because theres definatly some of them, but the DJ's (because it's not their voice to the crowd) are certainly not more so than any other musicians. They're kept from being like that through the fact that their not sell-outs.
We've already been through the non-talented bit - you try it and then say it takes no talent. If there was no talent to it then everyone would be doing it and there would be no distinguishing the famous (because their good, i.e. they have the talent).
As for the faking - all dandb scratching is real, but fake scratching is regularly seen on pop music and even in metal tracks. Thats the point - they can actually scratch when most people can't, so yeh, er, talentless!
The only bit of what you said that I might agree with is the fact that XTC pills are brain-draining and illegal, and that doesn't take a genius to point out (which means there must be quite a lot of stupid people around). Saying all the DJ's are on it is a generalisation since not all of them do it.
But its their own choice if they want to kill themselves, its not like they stand up there encouraging others to do it. What their brains are filled with is irrelavant, if it is relevant then I could start talking about the prozac in the brains of the suicidal metal singer.
Anyway
There is only one answer to this dispute, and its called having different tastes!
