I doubt that, no matter how cheap they are, that someone who isn't capable of looking after the fish, would take on 7 tanks worth of fish. But I guess I could be wrong...

So let's hope, even when you never get the fish back, that they are with someone who knows what he's dealing with. So he knows how to keep the fish alive and happy.

I'm sorry to hear about your personal problems. I hope in the end all works out, you somehow can get your fish back (or at least some of them), and hopefully come to an agreement to see your kids grow up and be with them.

That would be wonderful, of course.

Do you think you might know this person?

Seems like only an experienced fish keeper would have room for all those fish on a moments notice? unless this was doone over several mos and you didn't know? I mean you would know cause you were feeding them and doing their water right? :?:

It's baffling to me. I mean I do not know anyone who could randomly home 7 tanks of fish, I mean really? 'oh sure luv, bring them round.'

Weird.

Sorry I don't mean to be nosy, just it's so bizarre.

I have no idea. But I guess it must be someone with a large fish-room! I don't know many of those...

Just have to hope that this individual hasn't acquired them to sell them on immediately.

If this person is already aware of this thread, there isn't much you can do, but if they aren't they may stumble onto PC when trying to sell them on.

Hopefully they'll then do the right thing.

I have checked with e-bay and auqatics classified, and there aren't many matches at all - and most of the ones I found the adverts I found was older than they should have been.

The advice that I was given was that although the fish are rightfully mine, it would be a waste to spend my savings on fighting this in court, and it's unlikely that I will get the fish back even if I did.

I will ask for the name of the recipient, but there is no legal obligation to give that to me.

I will also put posters up in local shops to explain the situation and perhaps the new owner will see those and discuss their return to me, if I'm lucky!

that sounds like they really couldn't give a shit, if you pardon my language, and don't care at all how much the whole situation puts the hurt on you and they don't have a clue (or don't care at all) how much someone can really love his pets.

they just try to discourage you from going through with this. that is very clear.

it's very sad and a measure of the bad blood that's there right now that not even that single phone-call: "your fish are there and there" isn't made.
and they don't even have to call or talk to you; a SMS or Email would do; "Mr John Smith from there and that village has your fish".

I think that this is a way of deliberately trying to hurt you; there's simply no other explanation.

because the solution would be dead simple.
just 1 email with a name/address etc.
but they're going totally out of their way to do this really on purpose and not at all by accident.

I'm not sure you understood. I spent two hours discussing various matters, including my fish, with MY solicitor. There is a chance that the solicitor of my wife will instruct my wife to reveal the name of the person who has the fish. But if that doesn't work, then I may not get the fish back EVEN if I go to court, and it can take months and thousands of pounds - my wife will have legal aid to fight back, but not me, etc. etc.

Lets hope that he/they hwo got the fish, is aware of the situation, and have SOME honor left, and sell them back to you.

I sure would not feel happy with that fish...
Reg, that the fish is not common, he/they must know about it, don't you think?

I have asked my wife's solicitor to get the name of the new owner of the fish. Hopefully this works out.

Otherwise, I suspect Neil at Pier and MA in Wheatley will be getting a visit or two some time in the future... ;)

I'm still speachless about this Mats and I wish the best outcome for you.

Can I say though, that with all this sh!t that is going on in your life you are continuing to provide valuable assistance to the PC community via all your posts to everyone elses "issues".
Under normal circumstances that requires a "pat on the back".
Good on ya Mats.

I think the correct term is "distraction" or "displacement" activity - dealing with posts on Planet Catfish is something that I can do, and NOT think about the troubles.
