Is this breeding behavior?

Post by MonteSS »

I have six Pepper cories in my 75g. Two are rather large and four smaller. Recently the smaller ones started chasing the larger ones. Is this breeding behavior? I am familiar with SA/CA Cichlid breeding but noy Cories. There are many small caves. Do they use caves? Do they choose one partner or a harem?

I haven't viewed the video, but what you describe sounds like breeding to me.

Hi,
This maybe breeding behaviour. Usually the females are larger than the males, so you probably have 2 females and 4 males which for cories is good as the male to female ratio for cories is 1 female to 2 males. Cories don't pair off and don't breed in caves, they will literally breed anywhere and everywhere. Mine like breeding on my plants, the heater, the glass and the filter inlet.
Hope this helps, Calicocat
