I'm really looking forward to this show/auction having never attended one before. My son is also coming along who doesn't really have much interest but this may capture his imagination....if I can get him off his nintendo long enough!!

My hubby and i are going, got some fish to show and a lot booked

I failed in my goal of not spending any money at the auction itself... I spent over £100 all in. That was 5 x L204 @ £8 each - I think they are F1's, as I expect the size wouldn't be a size they'd be exported from Peru at, they aren't a full 2" yet.

I also bought an Eheim 2215 at £26, a Fluval 3+ @ £10, a few plants (XL and L Cryptocyrane affinis, £2-3 each) and several pieces of bogwood for anything between £1 and £10.

My first time showing under CSG rules and have to say very impressed with the judging and comments so you know where you need to improve your fish.

Much like Mats spent more than i had planned in the auction luckly had a friend with a big wallet to sub me till we got back to my house !

Came home with

Wild type platies X xiphldium
Rasbora vulcanis
Priapella chamulae


All the fish that I bought was bagged to a high standard and I went home very happy with both my purchases and the win in the show

Thanks to all the CSG committee for a great show and auction.

Well done to all the entrants who came away with lots of booty and to Ian Fuller for his second consecutive Best in Show with his stunning male C. undulatus.

The quality and range of exhibits was amazing with many species I have never seen before. Good to see so many other club members making the effort to travel and support the show, particularly from Castleford, Sheffield, Workington, Preston and Bradford Aquatic Societies.

I was really pleased with some of my placings with fish I haven't exhibited before, especially winning the Scleromystax class (S. kronei), and the second places I got for my Batasio, L052 and pairs in S. American and Asian classes, which were hotly contested.

The show is a great opportunity to get fish out that you wouldn't normally show in an open show with limited catfish classes.

Good to meet Mats and a big thankyou for bringing the fish up from Martin.

The only disappointment for me was, doing the auction cash table meant that I saw very little of the show itself. I had a brief look during the break and from what I saw the overall quality looked pretty good.

Being awarded Best in Show did come as a surprise as it was not a fish that I had originally intended to show. Like many I had my hit list of fish to take and then when catching them in the early hours finding something wrong, like a split fin or a bit of body damage.

I was very pleased with the brother to last years winner (now deceased) a C123 (Yellow fin Cory), winning class 5 (C, CW- numbers) and taking third BiS. Anyone manage to get a picture of it, as I said I never got a chance to get the camera out of the bag.

I would like to thank everyone that came and entered fish as this year turned out to be the highest entries we has has for more than twelve years, with more than 150 entries.

Now I am preparing for the Convention and if that turns out to be as successful then we are in for one hell of a party.
