I would like to hear if there is a way do tell mature L18´s from mature L81´s?
I am thinking about ordering some after I get the last Blue eye panaques. So it would be nice to actually be able to tell if i recived the right species or not.
These two are both labled as L81. But to me, they look like two diffrent species? I know that people say there are more than one type. Brown and black ect.. But is this true? Or is one of them L18 and the other L81?
Its very confusing.
Kind regards, Anders.

There is a "fine spot L81" (which is obviously not L81, but it looks generally similar, but has smaller spots). They come into the trade now and again.
The 2 pictures shows the "real" L081 and the first pic is a female and the second are a male, adults of L018 is very similar to adults L081. It's difficult to only use the amount or size of spots to separate them. In general L081 from young to adult have smaller and a higher density of spots when L018 is much more variable from few to many slightly larger spots as young to adults with much higher density of spots similar to L081. L018 can look like all the three common L-numbers of Golden Nuggets, in total there are 5 different localities of Golden Nuggets that all can be distinguish from each other in their appearance... L018 can be the most difficult to separate due their high variability in their pattern. You can expect that all variants reach a similar size as fully adults and that they all get mature around a size of 13-15 cm.

Janne, do you know when the L18 starts to get the same spotting as the L81?
I would be nice to know if I ordered L81 10-15cm that they were all L81 if they have the "star sky" spotting because L18 wont get before 20+ or something.
