Newby, Hi and quick question...

Post by zoepop »

Hi everyone,

New here and just wanted to ask a quick question...been watching a pair of bristlenoses on ebay and just wondered if they were a good price....

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0603130202

with postage it would be £25 for the adult breeding pair and he said he'd chuck in a couple of their latest batch of fry in there too...

any thoughts would be welcome :)

Thanks

First, I'd like to point out that fish prices vary quite a lot from one place to another, and different colour morphs of the common Ancistrus [and I believe these are "Piebald" variety of the , aka Common Bristlenose].

If you buy 2-3" fish from the shops local to me, they are about £7-8 - that's normal coloured brown ones or albino ones. The piebald colouration isn't quite as common.

You almost certainly won't have any need for more babies - these fish are very good at reproducing, and it is more than likely that eventually, you will have produced so many babies that you can't get rid of them to your local shop(s), even with a single pair.
