Re: Pseudacanthicus sp. L024 ID Please
Thank you Guys.
I think it is the best we can do. I'm lacking the experience with these species and it makes it hard to ID correctly.
I hope someone out there has some of these guys and will be able to tell us a little bit more.

Re: Pseudacanthicus sp. L024 ID Please
It looks like L024 to me, Rio Tocantins.
I understand the Tucuri variant doesn't or has minimal spotting on the body.
One quick way to discern L024 from L025 is the lack of spotting on the "face".
This method is not fool proof as you can see in my example pictures below.
You can see your fish has not spotting on the face from the eye to the snout area.
This is a picture of my friend's L024's in a holding tank awaiting size sorting into the grow-out tanks.
Though you cannot see it in the picture I saw similar specimens in his tank to the one in your photos.
Sorry for the bad quality but it was the best I can do with an iPhone...
Here's a L025 with the spotting on the face.
And here is another L025 variant without facial spotting.
Side-track from L024, I notice that the two variants of the L025 are always exported together.
The former being in much lesser numbers than the latter.
I have no idea if they are from the same collection location.
Cheers,
Irwin
