L-200 female trapped 7 days... now eggs!

Today they are totally pigmented and the yolk sack/stomach almost absorbed...what are the best "first" foods?

A mix of mostly vegetable diet with a bit of protein. Algae wafers will do this, but peas and prawns or similar may be better sources of food.

Nice job Brad! I start all of my fry - regardless of adult dietary needs - on decapped brine shrimp eggs and then up to NLS growth when they're ready. The shrimp eggs especially seem to be a great pleco fry food. I figure they're used to sucking up yolk sac so a high protein food can't hurt them.

Well, the 2 from the second spawn are looking good and appear to be eating and growing, they are a metallic gray at the moment. But the good news is that the male has another batch of eggs that he seems to be taking better care of. I will keep updating this post as to his progress.

This thread desperately needs pictures! Fantastic job! It gives me hope my young female L128 isn't quite as far from being any use to those 4 big males as I previously thought!

well, they spawned again and after a couple days I decided to take the eggs (I never do this). One was white so I removed it but the rest look good so far. I now have 4 from the previous 2 spawns and an egg mass of probably 30 eggs or so. Not sure that I will have better luck than a male L-200 but I hope so.
